City taxi rides in Belgrade

A city taxi ride in Belgrade covers transport between neighbourhoods, business districts, stations, hospitals, hotels, shopping centres and other locations within the city. The fare is not set by the name of a neighbourhood. It depends on the applicable tariff, the route travelled and the time the vehicle spends stationary or moving very slowly. The same journey can therefore have a different final fare during the morning rush hour, late in the evening or at the weekend.

When the ride begins, the driver switches on the taximeter and the calculation starts with a 320 RSD start charge. The day tariff is 105 RSD/km, while the night tariff of 135 RSD/km applies at night, on Sundays and on public holidays. When the vehicle waits in a queue, waits for a passenger or travels below the speed at which the taximeter changes to waiting time, that part of the fare is calculated at 1,800 RSD per hour. A distance-based estimate is useful, but the taximeter always determines the final amount.

For shorter rides around the city centre, Vračar, Dorćol, Savski Venac or New Belgrade, give the dispatcher an exact address and a nearby landmark. Near pedestrian zones, temporary restrictions or roadworks, the vehicle may not be able to reach the entrance itself. In that case, agree on a pickup point in the nearest accessible street or at a marked taxi rank. During the busiest periods, particularly on weekday mornings and between the end of the working day and the evening, bridges, Autokomanda, Gazela, Slavija and the approaches to New Belgrade have the greatest effect on travel time and fare. Before departure, check that the taximeter is running and that the vehicle carries the required markings. You may request a receipt or ride confirmation at the end.
